The 10-Month Program is designed for those who want to volunteer and experience time abroad, but have less time available to do it. In this program, we combine the essential tools necessary to volunteer, while separating the program into sections that allow for the full experience of volunteering abroad as our 18-month program offers.

Each program is separated into 3 sections:

Training | 3-Months

Project | 6-Months

Conclusion | 1-Month

TRAINING PERIOD | 3 MONTHS

The training period of the Volunteer Abroad Program takes place at our campus in Dowagiac, Michigan. You will join your team of diverse and vibrant individuals all interested in development and humanitarian work.

During this period you will be equipped with a plethora of new skills that will give you the confidence and knowledge necessary for your period abroad. Participants will also use this time to fundraise additional funds for their training and travels.

PROJECT PERIOD | 6 MONTHS

Once participants are equipped with all the knowledge needed, they will embark on the next stage of the journey. Participants will be placed in a project in either Zambia, Malawi, Mozambique, Brazil or Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. Projects in the respective countries will include farming work, education, and health.

Participants will join a range of activities, including engaging with local farmers to increase food production; starting sustainable and income generating projects; training teachers, and setting up pre-schools.

The projects work with children, parents, farmers, teachers, local leaders, national governments, and international partners to tackle the root causes of poverty and build sustainable and thriving communities.

CONCLUSION PERIOD | 1 MONTHS

The participants will return to the Michigan campus to reflect on their experiences. This final stage of the cycle allows students to share their findings and evaluate the effectiveness and impact of the work they’ve done in the field.

As they prepare and explore their options for the next step in their personal journey, they will be equipped with the sustainable leadership and development tools they’ve gained to confidently move toward a future they feel embodies the person they’ve become.
