Our Michigan campus is located in Dowagiac, MI, a quiet country town surrounded by woods, lakes and lots of natural beauty. We were thrilled to have Danish architect Jan Utzon, (son of famous architect Joern Utzon who design the Sydney Opera House in Australia) team up with us to build our school.

  • 18 Months ProgramThis program is a comprehensive study of global poverty. You will learn about the conditions of the billions of people living in poverty and how it affects their health, education, freedom, economic opportunity and even-whether they live or die.
    At one of our campuses you will join teams of humanitarians from around the world to live in a communal environment where everyone works together to live, learn and serve The Poor.
    The program has four periods 6 months in US - You will begin studies, learning assignments and set out into society to ask questions and learn about The Poor.

    6 months in Africa - You and your teammates set off to live for six months in Mozambique or Malawi. You may find yourself working in health, HIV/AIDS, farming, water projects, sanitation, teaching or other development programs.

    6 months in US - We call this The Journal period. You will want to reflect on all that you have experienced and take the time to integrate your service into your new world-view. You will finish studies for certification and create a final project to share with others.

  • MozambiqueMozambique is located in Southeast Africa and is one of the world's poorest countries. With a population of 24 million--the majority of the citizens live in rural with extreme poverty (70%). The poor in Mozambique have little access to water, sustainable food solutions, healthcare, sanitation, education, developed roadways and little access to goods, services or employment. In addition war, disease and natural disasters afflict this population.MalawiMalawi is located in Southern Africa, east of Zambia. The population is 14.9 million and is one of the poorest countries in the world. They rank 160th out of 182 countries on the Human Development Index. Malawians suffer with disease, lack of water and food, crop failures, lack of healthcare, HIV-AIDS epidemic, sanitation and infrastructure issues.

IICD Michigan was incorporated in 1997 as a not-for-profit research organization in the state of Michigan. IICD Michigan is an independent non-profit. The IRS has determined that IICD Michigan is an organization as described in the revenue code 501(c) 3.

In June 2013 we changed our name to One World Center to celebrate over 25 years in the United States.

The organization will not discriminate by race, ethnicity, national origins, religious belief, gender or orientation.
